In this course, we will focus on answering the big question: What can we do to reverse or slow down climate change trends?

Students will understand the importance of biodiversity, why we want to preserve it, and who does it (heard of conservation biologists and restoration ecologists?).

Students will learn what is conservation and what different approaches to conservation there are: from small and declining population conservation to restoration ecology. Students will review how effective different approaches may be and under what conditions. They will discuss both successful and unsuccessful ecological restoration efforts, including the dangers of biological augmentation going wrong.
